A number of wildfires continued to burn in three separate counties across Ireland on Wednesday.

Smoke from fires on the Mourne Mountains in County Down, on Mount Leinster in East Carlow, and on the Iveragh Peninsula between Sneem and Kenmare in County Kerry was visible from space as the Copernicus Sentinel-2 passed over Ireland at midday.

Status Orange High Risk Forest Fire and Status Yellow Wildfire alerts are currently in effect for the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland respectively.

The dry and warm conditions will continue until Saturday when cooler and showery conditions take hold.

Next week will bring a return to more seasonal conditions, with showers or more prolonged spells of rain at times.
