Munster was the warmest province in Ireland on Friday, with temperatures climbing into the mid-20s as the dry spell continued.

Shannon Airport in Co Clare was again the warmest location, reporting 25.2 degrees in the late afternoon. Valentia Observatory in Co Kerry was just behind, with a maximum of 25.1 degrees.

Conditions were much cooler further north. Malin Head in Co Donegal recorded a high of 17.1 degrees, while Ballypatrick in Co Antrim saw only 16.9 degrees.

Met Éireann forecasts warmer conditions nationwide on Saturday, with highs reaching the low to mid-20s. Scattered heavy showers are likely to develop in the southwest by evening, some of which may turn thundery.
