1975: Easter Monday temperatures rise to 7-8 C after snowfall impacts Ireland over the Bank Holiday weekend.
1986: Donegal records its first White Easter for decades.
1993: An official investigation is launched into the numerous sightings of Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs) across the country. Irish astronomer David Moore downplays the sightings, suggesting they are more likely to be parts of a satellite which burnt up while entering the Earth’s atmosphere.
2010: Snow and strong winds lead to the cancellation of some ferry crossings in the Irish Sea. 20,000 homes across Northern Ireland are left without power.
2014: Cars and windows across Ireland are covered in reddish dust after a Saharan plume makes its way to Ireland.
2018: The Taoiseach announces a special service to honour the contribution of public service workers during Storms Emma and Ophelia.
