On This Day – 1 July 1933: Record High Pressure

On 1 July 1933, Malin Head recorded the highest Mean Sea Level Pressure (MSLP) for the month of July, reaching 1037.9 hPa late that evening.
This followed the development of a large high-pressure system over the Azores, which extended northeastwards over Ireland in the preceding days.
The system ushered in a warm airmass from Iberia, pushing temperatures into the mid-20s across the country on July 1st.
The heat peaked in Dublin on July 5th, with temperatures reaching 27.2°C.
