Rain and sunshine mix replaces warm spell
Early morning rain in east Leinster and scattered heavy showers elsewhere were captured by the NASA Modis satellite as it passed over Ireland shortly before midday on Monday.
A mix of April showers and sunny spells has replaced the warm and settled conditions of last week.
Showers will retreat to the west coast on Monday night, leaving a largely dry night with frost forming under clear skies. It will remain slightly cloudier in northeast Ulster and Leinster.
Showers will be well scattered on Tuesday, leaving a largely dry day with the best sunshine in the western half of Ireland, particularly along the north coast.
A widespread frost will form in many areas on Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.
