East-west temperature split during past week

Clare and Dublin were the warmest and coolest counties, respectively, during the past week.

In a week that saw Newport Furnace in County Mayo record the highest temperature of 2025 (21.9 C), it was County Clare that recorded the highest mean temperature.

Shannon Airport was 3 C above normal, recording a mean temperature of 12.3 C.

In comparison, Dublin Airport saw a mean temperature of 8.5 C due to a cooler easterly airflow.

Met Éireann has confirmed that the highest amount of sunshine was 80.7 hours, recorded at Malin Head (242% of average). The lowest sunshine amount was 63.5 hours at Valentia (192% of average).

Meanwhile, it was largely dry everywhere.

The highest rainfall amount over the last week was 2.6 mm, recorded at Malin Head in Donegal, which was just 14% of average rainfall for the time of year.

No precipitation was recorded at stations in the southeast of the country.
