Clare The Warmest Spot in Ireland This Week

Shannon Airport in County Clare recorded the highest mean temperature in Ireland over the past seven days, coming in at 13.6°C, making it the warmest location in the country.
This stands in sharp contrast to Ireland West Airport (Knock), which registered the lowest at 11.5°C. Most other parts of the country experienced temperatures up to a degree below average, but Shannon bucked the trend—and that warm streak looks set to continue.
Looking ahead, temperatures are expected to stay close to or even slightly above average, especially in the midwest and southern regions. Soil temperatures have also been holding steady, with parts of the midlands up to 1.9°C above normal. Conditions in Shannon and surrounding areas are likely to remain on the warmer side as we move into mid-June.
Rainfall across most of Ireland has been average to below average, except for the northwest, which saw the heaviest totals. Ballyhaise, Co. Cavan, topped the charts with 30.5mm, nearly double the norm. The southeast remained driest, recording only 6.1mm. The coming days will bring thundery showers, though conditions are expected to settle early next week, with below-average rainfall in the north and west, and slightly above average in the south and southeast.
Sunshine remained scarce, with Cork Airport seeing just 17 hours (41% of normal), while Malin Head had the most at 36.7 hours (97%). Sunshine levels are expected to stay near or slightly below average in the week ahead.
In Met Éireann‘s latest farming forecast, it says frequent showers will keep drying conditions poor, though brief sunny spells may provide moderate to good drying. Soil moisture levels range widely, from saturated in the north midlands to very dry in the south, with moisture deficits expected to decline over the next seven days.
