Dry Weather Prompts Water Restrictions For Kilkenny Town

Uisce Éireann has announced overnight water restrictions for the Kilkenny town of Castlecomer and surrounding areas, as dry weather and increased demand continue to put pressure on local supplies.
Water restrictions will be in place from 9pm to 9am each night until further notice.
Residents in Clogh, Ardra, Massford, Moneenroe, Coolbawn, and Castlecomer are being advised to expect reduced water pressure, discolouration, or temporary supply interruptions during these hours.
Supply should begin to return within 3–4 hours after the restrictions lift each morning.
Uisce Éireann’s Shane Aylward thanked the local community for their continued cooperation: “We’re doing everything we can to protect and maintain supplies as we go through the summer, but we’re also asking our Castlecomer customers to help by reducing their water use. A few small changes around homes, businesses, and gardens can make a big difference.”
To help maintain daytime supply, the utility is implementing a range of measures including tankering water to reservoirs, managing pressure, and continuing with nighttime restrictions.
