Met Éireann’s latest long-range forecast points to an extended spell of largely settled weather, with high pressure expected to dominate through the first half of August.

In the week beginning Monday, July 28, Ireland will remain under the influence of high pressure to the southwest. While some rain or showers are likely in a mainly westerly airflow, rainfall totals are set to stay below seasonal averages. Temperatures are expected to be slightly above normal, with no weather warnings anticipated.

Conditions are expected to remain settled into the second week of August (August 4–10), as the high-pressure system holds steady. Rainfall will stay below normal across the country, and temperatures may run one to two degrees above average.

From August 11 to 17, the largely dry and settled conditions are forecast to continue, although some Atlantic fronts may bring rain at times to the northwest. Rainfall there could reach near or slightly above average, but elsewhere it will remain on the dry side. Temperatures will stay slightly above normal.

By the week of August 18–24, there is some signal that conditions may become more unsettled, particularly in the northwest, where rainfall is forecast to rise above average for late August. Nonetheless, temperatures are expected to stay a little above normal overall.

In summary, the coming weeks are shaping up to be warmer and drier than average for most areas, with high pressure dominating at least into mid-August.
