Kerry Wind Farm Hits Major Milestone

Energia Renewables has confirmed the successful installation of all six turbines at the Ballylongford Wind Farm in County Kerry—marking a key milestone in the project’s development.
Once fully operational, the 25.2 MW wind farm will generate enough clean electricity to power approximately 14,500 homes. It’s expected to offset over 40,000 tonnes of carbon emissions each year—the equivalent of removing around 28,000 cars from Irish roads.
Located near Ballylongford on the north Kerry coast, the project will play a meaningful role in Ireland’s transition to renewable energy, reducing dependence on imported fossil fuels and improving energy security.
Energia Renewables Project Manager Gerard O’Leary welcomed the progress: “Reaching full turbine installation is a major achievement. It reflects the hard work of our construction team and partners, and brings us a step closer to delivering renewable power directly to the Irish grid.”
This will be Energia Group’s 18th operational wind farm across the island of Ireland. The company is continuing to expand its renewable energy portfolio, with a pipeline of additional onshore wind, offshore wind, and solar projects supporting national climate targets.
The turbines, supplied and installed by ENERCON, will now undergo testing and commissioning before entering full production later this year.
