1985: Following one of the wettest Julys in recent memory, the August Bank Holiday Weekend begins with widespread heavy rain. Many outdoor events are later cancelled.

1990: A maximum of 30.6 °C is recorded in Dublin’s Phoenix Park—the hottest August day ever in Dublin, and the highest temperature recorded there on any August 2nd.

1995: Temperatures reach 30.8 °C in Kilkenny and 31.5 °C in Oak Park, Carlow.

2000: Spot flooding affects parts of Leinster as thunderstorms break out across the province.

2007: Birr, Co. Offaly records a daily high of 27.3 °C.

2019: The highest maximum temperature of the month (25.4 °C) is recorded at Mount Dillon, Co. Roscommon.

2021: The lowest air temperature of the month (4.5 °C) is recorded at Mount Dillon, Co. Roscommon.

2022: Dublin records one of its highest-ever overnight minimums at 18.5 °C.
