Met Éireann has issued a Small Craft Warning for the northeast coast, in effect from 2pm to 11pm today.

The warning covers the stretch from Fair Head to Belfast Lough to Strangford Lough, with northwest winds forecast to reach Force 6 at times, making conditions hazardous for small vessels.

On land, northwest winds will be moderate, gradually easing by late evening, bringing a temporary lull before more unsettled conditions next week.

Looking ahead, further marine warnings are likely for Monday, when a deepening low-pressure system is set to track across the country.

The system will bring wet and windy weather nationwide, with gusts exceeding 90 km/h expected along the Atlantic coast and parts of Ulster. Rainfall will be heaviest in western and northern coastal counties, while the southeast may experience drier and less windy conditions.
