Much of Ireland experienced a drier-than-usual week, with rainfall totals across most stations falling between 60 and 80 percent of the seasonal average.

According to Met Éireann, conditions were particularly dry in the south and east, with Dublin Airport recording just 4.1mm of rain, or 27 percent of its normal levels. The wettest location was Belmullet in County Mayo, which logged 23.6mm.

Looking ahead, Met Éireann forecasts a more settled week with a mix of light showers and long dry spells. Rainfall amounts are expected to remain below average, with much of the country likely to receive only half the usual volume.

Temperatures remained near seasonal norms, with mean air temperatures ranging from 14.3 degrees at Knock Airport to 16.6 degrees at Roches Point. Soil temperatures were above average, especially in the south, where values reached up to 19.5 degrees.

Sunshine was limited over the past week, particularly in the northwest, where Knock Airport reported just 13.7 hours — 48 percent of its average. In contrast, Cork Airport recorded 40 hours, slightly above normal at 108 percent. The coming days will bring more sunny spells, with sunshine levels expected to return closer to average across the country.
