1948: Shannon Airport in County Clare records an atmospheric pressure of 1043.4 hPa, which stands as the highest April pressure reading in Ireland’s recorded history.
1984: Glenties in County Donegal records the record air temperature (25.8°C) for April.
2000: Knock Airport in Mayo records a maximum daytime temperature of just 6.5°C as bitterly cold northeasterly winds sweep over Ireland.
2012: A deep area of low pressure tracks over the south of Ireland bringing damaging gusts of wind, with storm force winds recorded in the northwest and north.
2014: 17 of 19 stations reporting across Ireland record wind gusts of in excess of 80 km/h.
2015: The temperature overnight droops to -3.6°C at Casement in Dublin.
2019: Storm Hannah, named by the UK Met Office, hits Ireland as one of the most significant April storms in living memory. Gusts reached 122 km/h and mean wind speeds reached 96 km/h in Galway, causing power outages and some disruption.
