1978: The temperature reaches 23 °C at Kilkenny, Clones, Birr, and Mullingar.
1985: Farmland surrounding the Owenmore River in County Mayo is flooded.
1988: Wind gusts of up to 90 km/h are recorded at Malin Head and Roches Point.
1997: The temperatures reaches the low 20s in many parts of Ireland.
2000: Ireland’s National Aquarium opens in Salthill. Built in the shape of a fish, the £6m building contains direct water links to Galway Bay and has massive tanks on its roof which collect rainwater for use in many of the fish pools.
2012: The temperature rises to 24.3 °C at Finner in Donegal.
2016: Lightning storms bring power cuts to some eastern counties.
2020: Mullingar in Westmeath records a temperature of 25.6 °C.
