
Crystal-clear skies over Ireland and Britain

Ireland and Britain basked in sunshine under crystal-clear skies on Thursday.
The largely cloudless skies were captured by the NASA MODIS satellite as it passed over the islands at midday.
Shannon Airport in Clare and Kerry Airport were the warmest locations in Ireland at 2.00 p.m. with the temperature rising to 18 C.
It was much cooler along the east coast, with the temperature struggling to rise above 11 C in Dublin.
Belmullet in County Mayo was the warmest location on Wednesday, with the mercury level rising there to 17.7 C.
Mount Dillon in County Roscommon claimed the highest temperature of the year on the final day of March.
19 C was recorded at the Met Éireann synoptic station on Monday afternoon, marking the month’s highest temperature and the warmest day of 2025 to date in Ireland.
The present spell of fine weather is expected to last well into next week as high pressure remains anchored to the northeast of Britain.
Rainfall totals were close to half of the seasonal average in most parts of Ireland during March, with many locations likely to remain completely dry over the next fortnight
The only appreciable rainfall indicated for the next 10 days will occur on Thursday night in parts of Munster and Leinster as a disturbance over the Bay of Biscay drifts northwestward.
Overall rainfall totals are expected to be low.
