1976: Valentia in County Kerry reaches 21°C as high pressure centred over the North Sea brings unusually warm weather to Ireland.
1978: Localised flooding impacts the Mid-West due to intense shower activity. Shannon Airport in County Clare records 29mm of rainfall.
1983: The temperature dips to minus 3.9°C at Mullingar, County Westmeath.
1990: Rosslare in Wexford records a 96.5 km/h wind gust.
1999: The daily rainfall record for April is set at Cloone Lake in Kerry where 105.6 mm is recorded.
2010: Irish airspace remains closed as further eruptions of the Icelandic volcano Eyjafjallajökull replenish the ash cloud and continue to disrupt air transport across Europe.
2011: Oak Park in Carlow records a daytime high of 21°C and overnight low of 2.5°C.
2016: In an otherwise cooler than average month, 19.2°C is recorded at Ardfert (Liscahane), County Kerry, while Newport Furnace in Mayo sees its sunniest day (12.4 hours) since 1999.
2018: Casement Aerodrome, Dublin, has its sunniest April day since 1964 when it records 14.9 hours of sunshine.
2019: A temperature of 22.9°C is recorded at Oak Park, Carlow.
2023: Malin Head in Donegal records 14 hours of sunshine, the highest daily total for the month.
